World War II Bomber Crash

On January 20, 1944, a B-24 bomber from Pocatello Army Air Base crashed near Arbon Valley during a training mission.  Seven of the ten men on board were killed.  The accident happened approximately 10 miles south west of the air base (now Pocatello Airport).  I’m trying to locate the site of the crash, and would be interested in hearing from anyone with information about it.  I research old military crashes and create online memorials to the men who were killed.  More pilots and flight crews were killed during training in the U.S. than in actual combat during World War II.

Absentee ballots are available at the Power County Clerk’s Office for the Arbon Elementary School District #383 supplemental levy election scheduled Tuesday, May 21.

The Arbon School District is asking for an addition $50,000 at the supplemental levy election.

All qualified electors may vote by absentee ballot, if they wish.  Those planning on voting absentee will need to obtain and complete an application for absent elector’s ballot that may be brought in to the clerk’s office or faxed to 226-7612.  In-person absentee voting closes on Friday, May 17, and mail-out absentee voting closes on Wednesday, May 15.

All absentee ballots must be returned to the clerk’s office by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, to be counted.

The last day for pre-registration before the May 21 election is Friday, April 26; otherwise, voters will need to register at the polls or vote via absentee ballot.  Pre-registration only closes for those districts holding a May 21 election.

Anyone with questions may contact the clerk’s office at 226-7611.

Scheduled Power Outage

There is a power outage scheduled for Arbon Valley on Thursday, April 18th. The outage will begin at 10am and will last until approximately 2pm.

It would probably be a good idea to unplug any power strips that power sensitive devices such as computers, monitors, and televisions, until the power is completely restored.
